14.05.2008 The global food price rise is leading to further malnourishment among Indian children, UNICEF warns, as families reduce the number of meals in a day. India already has the worst indicators of child malnutrition in South Asia, along with 40% of the world’s underweight newborns.

Streamlining ICTs for healthcare in the field of advocacy, research, capacity building, health education (including the Indian system of medicine), transparency, procurement, regulatory issues(law,implementation,monitoring and compliance) content creation and management,within the scope of MDG’s.
To halt and reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS and bring about a behavioural change among people by adopting and applying the ICT tools for speedy dissemination of information,monitoring and evaluation for strategic planning and timely interventions.
The national health programmes envisage a myriad of health related interventions like the family welfare,RCH/MCH and control of different diseases.
Reduction of child mortality and infants under the age of five. Prevention through immunization, increased food consumption and access to nutritional food according to varying economic level.
To reduce maternal mortality and provide access to basic maternity care through RCH/MCH programmes and other services offering quality antenatal care, clean and safe delivery and postpartum care for both mother and infant.
Achieving the key deliverable of access to clean and safe drinking water and adequate nutrition for all is one of the primary areas of focus of the MDG framework underpinning the progress in a range of development sectors.
Regulatory issues with reference to the quality, prices, patent and availabilty issues of medicines to ensure the a timely intervention and the use of ICTs to disseminate health related information to different stakeholders.
One World South Asia (OWSA) has a network of partners including the civil society organisations , community based organisations, government and the private sector who can effectively play the role of a facilitator through the multistakeholder partner model, in developing and sourcing content in health management and improve the health delivery system.
Indian children
10.10.2006 A child health resource network involving various stakeholders would be built up soon in Madhya Pradesh. The networks would be set up at State, divisional, district and block level. The programme will help children in building up environment for survival initiatives and support implementation of the various health programme.

ILO’s latest report HIV/AIDS and the World of Work, says that there is an urgent need to coordinate responses across diverse sectors to combat the epidemic.

With support from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Population Council researchers designed an operations research project to determine the feasibility of expanding male youths’ access to reproductive health information and condom services through their peers in Bangladesh.
The World Food Programme invites the online community to raise awareness on global hunger by participating in an international short video contest. The five most compelling clips, between 30-60 seconds in length, will be webcast through YouTube.
Since January this year bird flu in Bangladesh has taken epidemic proportions affecting 47 of its 64 districts. To spread awareness on the disease and encourage safe practices among poultry handlers, UNICEF is working with local folk theatre groups. So far it has organised more than five hundred performances.
