India gives USD 300,000 grant to Nepal

As part of its efforts to strengthen Nepal's educational infrastructure, India will provide a grant assistance of USD 300,000 for construction of a campus building in the western district of Tanahun.
A memorandum of understanding was signed last week between the Indian embassy, the District Development Committee, Tanahun and Tribhuvan campus in this regard, a PTI report said here quoting an embassy statement. India will be providing a grant assistance of USD 300,000 for construction of a Tribhuvan campus building and boundary wall, it said. The project, the first in Tanahun district with India's assistance, would be crucial in addressing the educational needs of about 300 students of the campus and the people of Tanahun and neighboring districts of Lamjung, Gorkha and Manang from where a large number of students come to study, the Indian embassy said. It is a part of the 135 developmental projects being carried out or considered in 61 districts of Nepal in the areas of education, health and infrastructure at a cost of USD 3 billion. Through programs of the India-Nepal economic cooperation, both countries accord importance to development of the educational infrastructure for overall development and prosperity of Nepal, it said.
