India ready to work with Nepal in fostering of democracy

India said it is ready to work with Nepal in the development and fostering of democracy in the Himalayan country.
This was stated by the Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma during talks with Nepal's Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister K P Sharma Oli, here on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) . Congratulating Nepal on the restoration of democracy by the ruling seven-party alliance, Sharma emphasised that India was committed to democracy. He told the Nepalese Minister that the two countries held special ties. The two Ministers also discussed the prospects of increased bilateral cooperation in human resource development, training of personnel and economy during their short bilateral meeting. Sharma, who is in this Malaysian city for a NAM ministerial meeting, is accompanied by several high-ranking diplomats, who are here to attend the Senior Official Meetings (SOM), which began yesterday. Malaysia is the current NAM chairman. Sharma also held a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar. The two leaders discussed the ongoing cooperation in multilateral fora including the WTO, reform of the UN and the India-ASEAN FTA.
